Hey Erik, welcome to Tyner Blain, and thanks for commenting!

The first time I worked on a "system of systems" I realized that their had to be another level of abstraction that happened somewhere between "what does the user do?" and "what do the individual applications do?"

This approach has really helped me with dealing with the "problem of problems" that is a system of systems.

Hi Scott, nice posting. I like your positioning of the architectural requirements. Until now I used to thing about business requirements, (driving) user requirements, (driving) system requirements. Putting architectural requirements between the use requirements and the system requirements will certainly help in delivering even better systems.

Schauecker, Thanks for commenting, and welcome to Tyner Blain!

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking - can you explain in a little more detail, or provide an example?

that's a instructive exercise understanding the difference of business rules and requirements. but what would you say about requirements you need to define business rules. what kind of requirements we need for the rules? ;)
